First Night of 2017 Creative Arts Emmy Winners Announced

The Television Academy tonight presented the first of its two 2017 Creative Arts Emmy Awards Ceremonies honoring outstanding artistic and technical achievement in television at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The ceremony, which kicked-off the 69th Emmys, awarded many talented artists and craftspeople in the categories of animation, documentary, reality and variety programming.

This year's first Creative Arts Awards, executive produced by Bob Bain, featured presenters from television's top shows including Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), T Bone Burnett (American Epic), Nancy Cartwright (The Simpsons), LL Cool J (Lip Sync Battle), Ava DuVernay (13th) and Chris Sullivan (This Is Us).

In recognition of its focus on diversity and inclusiveness in documentary programming, ITVS received the prestigious 2017 Governors Award, chosen by the Television Academy Board of Governors.
