Release: FXX Announced as Telecast Partner for the 2013 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Spike Jones, Jr. Returns To Produce The Show

NoHo Arts District, CA, August 1, 2013 – The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced today that it has signed a three-year deal with the new FXX Network to broadcast the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy® Awards which will once again be produced by Spike Jones, Jr. The announcement was made by Alan Perris, now serving as Consultant to the Television Academy’s Chairman, Bruce Rosenblum. The 2013 awards will be taped on Sunday, September 15th to air on Saturday, September 21st at 9:00 PM ET/PT with an encore airing at 12:00 AM ET/PT. This will be the 19th year that Jones, Jr. has produced the awards, which finds its home for the first time on the brand new FXX Network.

"The Creative Arts Awards and Spike Jones, Jr. have become somewhat synonymous and we couldn’t be happier to have him back as the producer of this year’s awards,” said Perris. “We also are very excited to be working with the new FXX Network to carry this year’s awards as we celebrate the excellent work of the many different artists and professionals working in television.”

“There have been a lot of changes in TV over the 19 years that I’ve been privileged to produce these awards,” said producer Spike Jones, Jr. “We've gone from Living Single to Walking Dead.”

Jones, Jr. will work alongside the Creative Arts Emmy Awards Show Committee members including the committee’s Chair, Eileen Horta and Vice Chair Mark Watters.

Through his company SJ2 Entertainment, Spike Jones, Jr. has established himself as a leading player in the areas of awards shows and live TV variety shows. He has taken the Creative Arts ceremony from a dinner dance to a major annual event. He recently entered into the arena of reality TV by co-creating and executive producing Camping with the In-Laws, a reality show pilot for Lifetime Network. Jones, Jr. has a long list of credits with the major networks and has also produced and directed projects for HBO, Oxygen, Showtime, A&E Networks, MTV, VH1, NBC, Spike TV, Nickelodeon and ABC.
