Today's children have nearly infinite options for watching "television" - the box in the living room or bedroom, computers, phones and tablets, even game controllers. They watch content ranging from million-dollar animated series to Minecraft how-tos to six-second Vines to stunts captured on a mobile phone.
Is it all "TV"? If so, how do these new options affect the development and distribution process? Is storytelling changing? Will the "mainstream" come to look more like the "over the top" options or vice versa? From the Television Academy's point of view, do the diversifying content, genres and formats seen on emerging platforms change standards of excellence?
